THE ONESCALP GUIDE
Scalp micropigmentation: everything to understand before you decide
Losing your hair is never trivial. Here is what scalp micropigmentation is, who it is for, what it can offer and how treatment works at OneScalp.
Book my free consultationWhat is scalp micropigmentation?
Scalp micropigmentation, also called tricopigmentation or SMP, places very fine touches of pigment in the epidermis of the scalp. These dots reproduce the look of hair follicles. The aim is a natural result: a closely shaved look, or hair that appears denser.
It is a cosmetic technique, without surgery. It does not regrow hair and does not treat the cause of hair loss. It works on appearance.
Who is it for?
Shaved effect
For advanced hair loss: the look of a closely shaved scalp, clean and suited to your face.
Density
For thinning hair: pigment reduces the contrast with the scalp, so the areas concerned show less. This applies to men and women.
Hairline
A sharp or softer line, designed with you to suit your features.
Scars and transplants
To visually reduce a scar or even out the look after a transplant.
How does treatment work?
1. The free consultation
We talk about your hair loss, your expectations and the look you want, with no commitment.
2. The line and shade
The line and pigment are adapted to your face, your skin tone and your hair colour.
3. Treatment in one day
At OneScalp, the full treatment is done in a single day. Keep the whole day free so you don’t have to rush.
4. Follow-up
All aftercare advice is given to you before the treatment. A touch-up can be done about a month later, if needed, to perfect the result.
After the treatment
We advise against any training or sweating for 4 days. Light training can resume on day 5, and normal exercise 10 days after the treatment. Avoid swimming for at least 30 days.
How much does scalp micropigmentation cost?
The price depends on your hair loss and the result you want: see what affects the cost. Send us a photo of your head, your last name, first name and phone number: we will get back to you with a tailored quote.
Micropigmentation or hair transplant?
A transplant is a surgical procedure that moves real hair. Micropigmentation reproduces the look of follicles, without surgery. The two approaches are different and can sometimes complement each other.
Frequently asked questions
Is it the same as a traditional tattoo?
No. The equipment, needles, techniques and pigments used are different.
Does it hurt?
Sensitivity varies by area: the hairline and temples are generally more sensitive than the crown. The vast majority of our clients describe the treatment as bearable.
What happens if my hair turns grey?
A touch-up can be done to adapt the shade. We discuss this during the consultation.
Where can you have it done?
OneScalp welcomes you in two studios: at 8 rue Émile-Yung in Geneva, and at 44 rue Jules Vanzuppe in Ivry-sur-Seine, right next to Paris. Each result depends on the person and their hair loss.
Your line. Your face. Your result.
