Frequently Asked Questions

To put it simply, Scalp Micropigmentation is a hair tattoo that uses detailed micro-needles to deposit pigment into the scalp in order to replicate natural hair follicles. This is a cosmetic procedure that creates the illusion of a fully shaved head.

All Scalp Micropigmentation procedures are performed over 3 separate treatment sessions.Treatment schedules are set as shown below:

  • Session 1
  • Session 2: Seven to 10 days after
  • Session 3: Four weeks after your 2nd session

We can never just guess the perfect colour for each individual hence the layering process. The first treatment is done slightly lighter to see how the pigment settles in the scalp. When you return for your second session, we will assess if the colour has held and matches or if we need to go darker.

We can go through some pictures of hairlines and then we will draw some hairlines on you. When doing hairlines it is always advised to start safe by not dropping your hairline too low on the first visit. Then on the second visit you will have decided how low you want to go. The style of hairline is completely your choice. You may prefer soft and natural, slightly receded or barbershop edge-up, the decision is yours.

The answer is no. Although SMP is also known as a hair tattoo, it is completely different to the traditional tattoo. We use a completely different equipment, needles and techniques and the pigments used for SMP do not change colour.

No because we focus the techniques on areas with hair loss so there is nothing to damage in the first place. Additionally, the treatment has been known to stimulate hair growth in some cases. If you do have some hairline left then we recommend working within your existing hairline.

Scalp Micropigmentation is a form of permanent cosmetics or permanent makeup. Results typically last 3 to 5 years with some touch ups in between, but depending on lifestyle and immune system it can last longer. We would usually discuss the options before the treatment.

Our pigments are designed to naturally fade typically within 3 to 5 years. If your hair turns grey, you may not require a top-up session as you would simply allow the pigments to fade naturally as your hair turns grey.

Our treatment plans range from £400 to £2500 depending on the type of procedure required and the severity of hair loss to the scalp. Please send us photos of your hair loss and we can provide an accurate quote.

  • For existing clients who have completed their full sessions, prices cost £300.
  • Prices start from £500 for SMP repair.

We strongly advise against any training 4 days after each treatment. This means no sweating whatsoever, this is essential otherwise the treatment will not work. On day 5 you can train but only light training and try to avoid excessive sweat for 10 days after each treatment.

It all depends as the human body is unique to each individual. The redness may subside on the same day with certain clients (Usually brown and darker skin), and some clients may experience redness for a few days.

For the first 4 days after each treatment we advise that you do not exercise or excessively sweat.

You can return to light exercise after a 4 day healing period. We advise against excessive sweating as it may cause the treatment to fade quicker or disappear. Normal exercise can resume 10 days after treatment.

During your 4 days healing period, it is important not to allow your scalp to get wet and avoid wearing hats which may rub on your new SMP treatment. From day 5 onward, you can then wash your head and shave your hair.

We advise against swimming for at least 30 days after your final treatment.

Full details will be provided before the treatment.

Some areas of the scalp may be more sensitive than others. For instance, it may feel more sensitive around the hairline and temple area as opposed to the crown area. Most of our clients state that the treatment is completely bearable compared to the pain from your traditional tattoo.
